With a B.A in English from Stetson University, Kait is currently a student in Spalding University’s M.F.A in Writing for Children and Young Adults program, where she studies dual-genre in screenwriting. She writes dark paranormal romance with drool-worthy heroes and kickass heroines as Kait Ballenger, and sassy YA urban fantasy under her maiden name, Kaitlyn Schulz.
When Kait’s not preoccupied with paranormal creepy-crawlies, she can be found slaving over endless amounts of schoolwork or with her nose buried in a book. She lives in Florida with her husband, and doggie-daughter, Sookie (yes, like the heroine in Charlainne Harris’ books), and two mischievous kittens, Elliot and Olivia (yes, like the Law and Order characters), near the love and care of her supportive family. Kait believes anything is possible with hard work and dedication. One day, she will be a bestseller and have people name their pets after her characters too.
FUN FACTS:
--I’m an Egyptian Cabaret Bellydancer. I used to teach beginner's level courses, but now I just perform.

--I’m a black belt in Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan, a member of the International Tang Soo Do Federation, and I’ve competed in world tournaments (my school won the annual International Tang Soo Do Federation World Championship three years in a row and we’re the only ones ever to do so).
--I have a 2 year old American Dingo aka a Carolina Dog. Her name is Sookie (yes, after the character in Charlainne Harris’ Southern Vampire Series). I also have two crazy kittens by the names of Elliot and Olivia (yes, after the Law and Order characters). I love all my furry babies.
--I participate, or have participated in the past, in a ridiculous amount of different art forms. Here they are: fiction writing, poetry, dramatic writing (screenplays and stage plays), dance (tap, polynesian, bellydance), martial arts, music (piano, guitar, voice, marimba, and the majority of percussive instruments) acting, and that's all I can think of at the moment....lol. I've practiced each one of these for multiple years. If it was possible for me to do them all and still sleep, then I most certainly would. Unfortunately, I can usually only do two or three at a time, because they all require such extreme devotion.
--There is probably no food I love more than pierogi! They're delicious. Can you tell I'm Polish? ;-)
--My husband is a bartender by night, screenwriter by day. We met in a creative writing class in our undergrad--his dad was the dean of the university!--and we were very close friends for nearly three years before he finally built up the nerve to ask me out. We got engaged four months later and married one month before our one year dating anniversary (3-10-2012).
--I have a pretty much unhealthy addiction to buying scarves and jewelry, particularly HUGE bellydance style earrings and flamboyantly colorful scarves.
