Reading Recommendations/ Blog Hop

Happy Saturday, everyone! Hope you guys are having a great weekend. My weekend has not been the greatest, but what can you do? C'est la vie. Let's jump right in to what I'd like to discuss today.

When I was looking over the comments on my latest review, a thought struck me: how many of you pay attention to my reviews? What I mean to say is: how many of you actually do something with the reviews from book blogs? Does it prompt you to venture to the library, your nearest bookstore, or perhaps your e-reader, and get the book into your hot little hands? Or does it simply sway your opinion on a book you're already considering?

I suppose it's kind of self-centered of me to wonder how powerful my opinion is, but some part of me wants to know if my work and the work of other book bloggers is actually reaching out to the masses. So I'd like to hear your thoughts on the matter. Let's start up a discussion in the comments.

Also, don't forget it's the weekend, so that means it's time for the weekly blog hop and Follow Friday, courtesy of Jenn at Crazy for Books and Parajunkee. Just click on the icons below and you can check out the linky-list to find some other fantastic book bloggers. Make sure you tell them your favorite blogger sent you ;-)

And don't forget to let me know what your vote is on market news! For those of you who didn't catch the last post, I wrote about this week's publishing buzz. I'd like to know if you enjoy these posts, and if you do, would you want to see them again? Perhaps weekly or bi-weekly? Check it out HERE and let me know. Til Monday! ;-)

  1. If I read a good review of a book that interests me, I usually add it to my GoodReads tbr list. And if I see it at the library, I'm more inclined to pick it up. If there's a book that gets great reviews and/or the premise sounds amazing, I might consider looking for it at bookstores. However, I don't buy books often (I have too many I already own and need to read), so putting new books on my TBR list usually helps me for library purposes more than buying.

  2. I love reading reviews! My goodreads TBR list has grown immensely because of it. :)

  4. Thanks to everyone for stopping by from the hop! =D

Vicki--Glad to hear the reviews help. I need to stop buying books too. I have piles and piles that I need to read, as well as tons on my Nook lol.

Theresa--Awesome! It makes me happy to hear that bloggers recommendations are being heard. =)

Judith--I totally forgot to post my answer to the blog hop question lol. Unfortunately, Thanksgiving is probably my least favorite holiday. I'm not a fan of turkey, football isn't my thing, and Thanksgiving is always at the worst time of the year--November (which is bad because of semester finals lol). But one reason I like Thanksgiving is because it means that December (an amazing month because of winter break) and Christmas are near!

Danielle--Thanks! Welcome back! Hope you have a great weekend too!

  5. Negative reviews will not stop me from reading a book that I am intent on reading, but they can make me think twice about a book that I was waffling on.
The thing I love about reading bloggers is that I discover new books that I might never have heard about otherwise. That for me is the biggest benefit.
