Day 2 of NaNo!

Happy Tuesday, everyone! As all of you know, yesterday was the start of National Novel Writing Month and this is the first time I've ever participated. I am very proud to say that I made it through the first day! Yay! In order to write exactly 50,000 words by the end of November, every NaNo participant has to average 1,667 per day. I, like many others, am aiming for at least that amount every day. I managed to meet my goal yesterday and finished up 1,688 words. Woot!

Honestly, I thought writing without editing myself was going to be much harder. However, it ended up being surprisingly easy and very freeing. The creativity was definitely flowing and the writing wasn't too bad. With a few edits, it will be up to my usual par. Because of all this, I am really pumped for NaNo.

Check back tomorrow and I'll announce the winner of our NaNoWriMo Giveaway! Til then! ;-)

NaNoWriMo Giveaway!

Happy Wednesday, everyone! As promised, it's time for another giveaway! To kick off National Novel Writing Month, I'll be giving away a brand-new copy of Karin Harlow's Enemy Lover--a sexy, paranormal romance. Check out the steamy cover! Sexy!

All you need to do is click on the link HERE and fill out the form. Limit: one person per entry.

You must be a follower of this blog to enter (and yes, I will check to make sure you're telling the truth). Extra entries will be given for tweets and blog posts, though it's limited to only one tweet and one blog post (but of course, I'd love if you'd do more just because you love this blog!). The giveaway begins now and will be closed at midnight November 1st EST, the day NaNo kicks off. The winner will be announced on Wednesday, November 3rd.

So hop to it and spread the word! Til Friday ;-)

NaNoWriMo

Happy Monday, everyone! It's that time of year again. You heard me. Time for National Novel Writing Month! For those of you who don't know, NaNoWriMo happens every November, where thousands of insane writers rip their hair out in hopes of finishing a 50,000 word novel in one month. Yep, a whole novel in just one month--writing without worrying about editing, freeing your creative side.

As you can see from the little tag on the right side of the blog, I'll be participating in NaNo this year, and honestly, I don't know how to feel. Part of me is excited, because I really hope I can finish up Bad to the Bone. Another part of me is nervous, because I don't want to create more stress for myself. Plus, I've never done NaNo before!

Many NaNo veterans have been offering their advice as to what works best to keep a writer on track and focused. I've heard everything from "make sure you keep up your word count every day" to "don't worry about it, just write." It's hard to know what advice to follow, but I suppose I'll have to wait and see for myself.

But I'd like to know, are any of you doing NaNo? Are you a veteran or is this your first time? If you've done this before, how do you find time to fit all that writing in? What are your methods? I'd like to hear your thoughts.

If you haven't done so yet, please check out Friday's review of Kalayna Price's novel, Once Bitten. The next book up for review should be arriving in my mailbox soon.

Also, make sure you check back Wednesday for a big announcement! Til then ;-)
