This week's question:

What hyped up book do you think was worth all the talk?

My Answer: I'm going to agree with the featured blogger on this one: The Hunger Games. Everyone had hyped it so much I was worried I would be disappointed, but I DEFINITELY wasn't. Love that series!

Make sure you scroll to the two posts below to find some awesome giveaways! You could win one of three ebook copies of Kate SeRine's debut urban fantasy novel in her Transplanted Tales series, Red, or you could win an autographed copy of NYT Bestselling author Christina Dodd's paranormal romance novel, Chains of Ice!

This week's question:

What blogger inspires you? It could be any kind, it doesn't have to be a book blog.

My Answer: Honestly, I don't have one individual blogger that inspires me. But I think the qualities of a good blogger are interesting writing content, willingness to interact with readers/authors, and someone who treats others with politeness and kindness. Anyone with those qualities is an inspiring blogger to me.

Don't forget to check out our highlight of this week: Author Interview with Amanda Carlson! I am moving into my new house on Monday and will not be posting then, so I'll see you all on Wednesday. Cheers ;-)

This week's question:

Christmas in July! Someone gives you a giftcard for two books (whatever that costs). What two books will you buy?

My Answer: I have so many books on my shelf lately that I haven't read that I can't imagine buying more at the current moment lol. But I would buy a copy of Laura Kaye's newest novel, Her Forbidden Hero, and I'd also pre-order a copy of Cecy Robson's debut urban fantasy novel, Sealed with a Curse.

Second hop question: What's the ONE super-hyped book you'll NEVER read?

My Answer: This is a hard question because I can't imagine saying I'd never read any piece of fiction. I know I'm not likely to read Fifty Shades of Gray, simply because I've read other novels with BDSM that (from what I hear) are way better written than 50 Shades. I'm also not likely to read J.K Rowling's debuting adult novel. I think reading something non-Harry Potter by her would just be strange and almost ruin my image of her as an author...I have no clue why, and I know it's kind of silly. I CAN say with absolute certainty though that for non-fiction I'd never read an autobiography or a biography about a conservative jackass, such as Rush Limbaugh, or some other douche.

This week's question: Summer Break is upon us! What would be the perfect vacation spot for you to catch up on your reading and relax?

My Answer: The perfect vacation spot to relax and read would be dragging my handsome husband back to Kona, Hawaii with me--we just got back there from our honeymoon a month ago and it'd be so relaxing to go again. Aside from the super long flight from Florida that is!

Second hop question: How many books do you own? This can include your books in your TBR (to-be-read) pile and books you have already read that are on your keeper shelf.

My Answer: I really have no clue lol. But I'm going to estimate on the low side and say three hundred (yes, that's a lower guess. It might be more lol).

This week's question: This Sunday in the U.S is Mother's Day. In celebration, what are some of your favorite books with strong mother/child relationships?

My Answer: Honestly, the only book I can think of that has a prominent mother/child relationship is Harry Potter. I think the love from Harry's mother protecting him for all those years is a beautiful thing.

Second hop question: Who is your favorite book character? I'll give you a maximum of two choices, but they have to be from different genres.

My Answer: Well until recently, I would've said hands down that Eric Northman was my favorite fictional character. But I don't like what Charlainne Harris has been doing to him in the later Southern Vampire Novels, so I'm a little reluctant to say that still. My second favorite character from a different genre would have to be Katniss Everdeen from the Hunger Games. She's strong, kickass, and awesome. But of course, none of the above listed characters top my own characters for my favorites ;-)

On Monday we're going to have a review of Ally Condie's YA dystopian novel, Crossed, the second novel in the Matched Trilogy! Don't miss out =)

Follow Friday #95

FF 2012 Feature & Follow #95Happy Friday, everyone! I'm sure you're all glad it's the weekend! And the weekend means, it's time for some blog hopping. So please hop on over to Parajunkee's View or Alison Can Read, and hop around to some new blogs. You can also participate in the social media hop as well! This week's question: What is one thing you wish you could tell your favorite author?

My answer: I have lots of favorite authors, not one absolute favorite. So I will do a short address to the top three.

Dear J.K Rowling:

I bow to your extreme greatness. I am certain that you possess the Elixir of Writing, and maybe the Elixir of Life as well, but I'm more interested in the earlier one. If so, will you please share with the rest of us writer peons so we may, too, be as great? The world deserves yet another series as mind-bogglingly fantastic as Harry Potter.

Dear Charlainne Harris:

I've named my dog after one of your characters. For this reason, I believe you should tell me the secret to having such an amazing writing voice that readers will follow Sookie anywhere, even when the plot is sometimes lacking. Also, if you could stop trying to turn Eric into an ass and get back to the romance between him and Sookie, like in Dead to the World, we'd all really appreciate it.

Dear Suzanne Collins:

While Mockingjay was somewhat of a disappointment in the end, I still hold the belief that you write action scenes and tension better than any other author out there. I pray that someday my books will be as page-turning as yours. Also, thanks for making Katniss really badass to counteract the whole weakling Bella nonsense. Generations of women across the world all thank you for fixing the brains of our daughters, granddaughters, sisters, etc. Kickass girls too the end!

Yours truly,

A soon-to-be-published peon writer who strives toward your greatness

Second hop question: Are you attending the Book Blogger Convention (aka Bea Bloggers) and/or Book Expo America in New York City in June? If not, will you participate in the online event called Armchair Bea?

My Answer: I will not be attending the convention or the Expo, but I will be attending the online Armchair Bea event =)

Follow Friday #94

Happy Friday, everyone! I'm sure you're all glad it's the weekend! And the weekend means, it's time for some blog hopping. So please hop on over to Parajunkee's View or Alison Can Read, and hop around to some new blogs. You can also participate in the social media hop as well! So have fun and check out my answer to the weekly blog hop question below. Cheers!

This week's question: Have you ever had a character that disappointed you? One that you fell in love with and then "broke up" later on in either the series or the stand-alone book? Tell us about him or her.

My answer: My first answer was going to be a near replica of Parajunkee's, because Anita Blake disappointed me too. But since Miss Parajunkee already chose Anita, I'll choose someone new.

Dear Edward Cullen:

We had a beautiful connection between us, but you threw it all away! I fell in love with you and your sexy romantic words, your conflicted bad boy ways. And I tried, Edward. I really tried to see past all your transgressions: I looked past the girly sparkling, and I even (with sadness) accepted your lack of fangs.

Despite those flaws, I still thought of you as a romantic vampire. But your true character showed as time progressed. You became overly possessive, controlling, and at times, near abusive. But even in the face of those misunderstanding, I still I forgave you.

But Edward, as hard as I have tried, I cannot forgive you for ripping open a woman's uterus with your teeth. You crossed the line between sexy vampire and supernatural creeper in one swift chomp. Though my heart still aches, I wish you well and will always miss what we had in the beginning. It is a shame we cannot go back.

Yours never again,

Team Jacob Fan

Don't forget to check back in on Monday. We're going to have a review of Laura Kaye's paranormal romance novella, In the Service of the King! Don't miss out =)

This week's question: Fight! Fight! If you could have two fictional characters battle it out (preferrably from books), who would they be and who do you think would win?

My answer: I would love to see Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games fight
Bella Swan from Twilight. Why, you ask? Well, because obviously Katniss would whoop Bella's ass and I think that'd be really humorous to watch! Lol!

Don't forget to check back in on Monday. We're going to have a review of Allie Condie's YA novel, Matched, the first in the Matched Trilogy! Don't miss out =)

This week's question: What is one book that you would be nervous to see a movie adaptation of because you think the movie could never live up to the book?

My answer: Honestly, ALL of my favorite books have been made into movies, so I suppose I'll have to get back to you on that answer lol. I do know that having one of my own books made into a movie would be both exciting AND horrifying. It would break my heart if they did it wrong.

Don't forget to check back in on Monday. We're going to have a cover reveal of the third novel in Lisa Sanchez's Hanaford Park paranormal romance series, Faythe Reclaimed, and a review of Lisa's paranormal romance novella, Cursing Athena. Don't miss out!

Social Blog Hop and Follow Friday

Hey, everyone! Hope you had a great week!

Check out our usual blog hop and don't forget to check out Parajunkee's Social Hop as well! And check back on Monday for an updated blog schedule. Til then! ;-)

Q: What book genre do you avoid at all costs?

A: Honestly, I don't have a genre I avoid at all costs. I'm pretty much up for anything if it's a good story or it's well-written. Though when it comes to literary fiction, I'm really picky--I only like really gritty contemporary authors.

So how about you? What's your answer to the hop question? Leave your answer in the comments! ;-)

Social Blog Hop and Follow Friday

Hey, everyone! Hope you had a great week! I have been busy between a mix of wedding plans, school, and work--I hope all of you have been significantly less stressed. Today we have our regular Friday blog/social media hop! Courtesy of Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. But before you start hopping, don't forget to check out my blog post over at Kiss and Tell YA, where I write as Kaiti Ballenger. I'm talking about wishes and how sometimes they can go ssoooo bad ;-)

But onto the hop!

QUESTION: What's the craziest thing you've ever done to get your hands on a particular book?

MY ANSWER: Other than staying up late and waiting outside the bookstore until the stroke of midnight, nothing too crazy. I will admit though that I dressed up for many Harry Potter releases. Despite that I am a Gryfinndor through and through, I always dressed as Bellatrix Lestrange. I even got my picture in the local paper once lol!

So how about you? What crazy thing have you done to get your hands on a book?

Don't forget to check out the KT blog post and check back in on Monday for our new posted blog schedule. Til then! ;-)

Happy Friday, everyone! Hope you had a great week! We're participating in two hops today! Our regular Friday blog hop and Parajunkee's new social media hop. Enjoy!

Q: Many readers/bloggers are also big music fans. Tell us about a few of your favorite bands/singers that we should listen to in 2012.

A: For me, I don't really listen to music too extensively--not like I did when I was a teen anyway. However, when I'm writing one band that I frequent over and over is One Republic. Love their music! Very inspiring!

A: I plan on revising my book review schedule so it's more stable. I also plan on cross-promoting my blog posts at Kiss and Tell YA, where I write as Kaiti Ballenger. And lastly, I'd like to get a wider array of guest authors to do posts and interviews.

Friday Blog Hop

Happy Friday, everyone! Hope you all had a great day! I know this post is coming a little late in the evening. Let me just say that I love you all for bearing with my more sporadic posts lately. Things have been hectic and I promise, cross my heart hope to die, that come the beginning of January, I will be back on a regular posting schedule.

Until then, keep your eyes open for more posts and if you want something to entertain you in the meantime, you can go check out the group blog I'm a part of: Kiss and Tell YA. You can find me there writing as Kaiti Ballenger and also enjoy all the other wonderful YA authors. Now, onto the hop! Don't forget to weigh in with your answer to the hop question in the comments section.

Q: Keeping with the Spirit of Giving this season, what book do you think EVERYONE should read and if you could, you would buy it for all of your family and friends?

My answer: I would give everyone a copy of Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games. Though it's not my favorite book (it's one of my fav, just not THE fav), I feel like it's a book that almost anyone could enjoy. And yes, if I had the means, I would buy it for all my friends and family.

Blog Hop!

Happy Friday, everyone! Hope you all had a great week! I apologize for being on hiatus. School has started again and on top of that I'm still knee-deep in edits. But I am back today with our regular blog hops! Onward!

Blog Hop Link: http://crazy-for-books.com/2011/09/book-blogger-hop-916-919.html

Today's blog hop question is:

As a book blogger, how do you introduce yourself in your profile?

My answer: I just always introduce myself professionally and try to stick to interesting things that I would like to know about a particular author or blogger. It's pretty straight forward.

How about you? If you have a blog, how do you introduce yourself in your profile? And if you're a reader, what do you want to see in a bloggers introduction?

Have a great weekend! Til Monday! ;-)

Crazy-for-Books Blog Hop Question: "What are you most looking forward to this fall/autumn season --a particular book release? Halloween? The leaves changing color? Cooler temperatures? A vacation?

My answer: I'm looking forward to quite a few things--here they are, not in order of importance. First: my 21st birthday, which just so happens to be on September 10th! Second: making more plans for my wedding in March. Third: my first graduate school residency at Spalding University in November, and what I'm looking forward to most of all....my book being on submission with my agent and possibly being picked up by publishers! Woo hoo! Fingers crossed!

So what about you? What's your answer to this week's question?

Also, don't forget to check out my new author fan page on FB. I am trying to slowly make the transition from using the old fan page to this one, so if you would like to receive updates in your FB feed about the blog and my books, please "like" my page. You can check it out here: http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Kaitlyn-Schulz-Author/241984212507804

And keep your eyes open for a new website! I will still be keeping up with the blog, but I'll soon have an author page with information and updates on my books that links back to my blog, so make sure you check back for that soon.

Parajunkee Blog Hop Question:

In books like the Sookie Stackhouse (True Blood) series the paranormal creature in question "comes out of the closet" and makes itself known to the world. Which mythical creature do you wish would come out of the closet, for real?

My answer:

I wish vampires would come out of the coffin for real like in Trueblood. They are my favorite paranormal creature and I would be in such 'aw' over the fact that they were real.

Crazy-for-Books Blog Hop Question:

Non-book related this week. Do you have pets?

My answer:

Yes, I do! I have a one-year-old puppy named Sookie--yes, after Sookie Stackhouse in the Southern Vampire Series (Trueblood). She is half collie and half golden retriever, and she is the most lovable big dog on the planet. =)

Have a great weekend, everyone! Don't forget to "like" my new author page! Til Monday ;-)

Friday Blog Hop

Happy Friday, everyone! Hope you're all looking forward to the weekend. =) Today we have our regular Friday blog hop. Make sure you hop around to all the different blogs and give them a follow, and don't forget about the blog questions!

Question: How have your reading habits changed since you were a teen?

My Answer: My reading habits really haven't changed that much since I was a teen. I still read the same type of books I read back then. The main difference is that I now read on an e-reader occasionally, and I'm also reading books for grad school rather than for high school.

Book Blogger Hop

http://crazy-for-books.com/2011/08/book-blogger-hop-812-815.html

Question: Let’s talk crazy book titles! Highlight one or two (or as many as you like!) titles in your personal collection that have the most interesting titles! If you can’t find any, feel free to find one on the internet.

My answer: I can't seem to find any "crazy" book titles per say, but I can name a couple of my favorite book titles. Personally, I think Laurel K Hamilton comes up with the best titles of any author I read. Here are a couple of them: Obsidian Butterfly, Narcissus in Chains, Dance Macabre, The Harlequin, and The Killing Dance.

So what about you? What are your answers to the blog questions? Also, don't forget to check out the weekly book review that was posted on Wednesday. This week was Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson.

Til Monday! ;-) Enjoy the hop.

Blog Hop!

Happy Friday, everyone! Hope you're all glad that it's the weekend. We have our usual Friday blog hops today! Have at it and hop from blog to blog. On Monday, I'll be posting some market news for the week. Til then ;-)

Blog Hop Question: What is a book that changed your life and how did it do so?
My answer: A book that changed my life was Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone. The HP series is what really got me into reading and if I hadn't become a reader, I would've never been a writer. It shaped my whole life and career!

Book Blogger Hop

Blog Hop Question: What is one ARC you would love to get your hands on?

My answer: I can't think of any at the current moment, but when the next Sookie Stackhouse book is about to come out, I would maybe fist fight someone for an ARC copy of that lol.

If you had $80 to spend in books....

I'm going to make today's post all about this week's blog hop question from Crazy-for-Books. The question is:

If I gave you $80 and sent you into a bookshop right now, what would be in your basket when you finally staggered out the door?

Oh goodness! Well let's see. I'll figure this out considering that most paperbacks are $10 and most hardcovers are $20--we'll also pretend there is no tax ;-)

The first thing in my basket would be a receipt for $20 dollars saying I'd pre-ordered/reserved a hardcover copy of Sookie Stackhouse #11, Dead Reckoning by Charlainne Harris, which comes out this May. I LOVE me some Sookie and I have been craving some more Eric Northman. Yuummm.

Next would be Snow Flower and the Secret Fan and Shanghai Girls by Lisa See, both in paperback. I've been wanting to re-read Snow Flower for a while now (it's one of the most beautifully written books I've ever read) and Shanghai Girls has been on my 'want to purchase list.' Peony in Love, another one of her novels, is currently sitting on my shelf waiting to be read.=)

Next would be the first three novels of Kelley Armstrong's Women of the Otherworld series. I've read Bitten, the first novel, and I LOVED it, but I would want to re-read that and then continue on with the next two books to see if I liked them. All in paperback.

So that leaves me with only one book left! Holy cow! Eighty dollars isn't nearly enough!

The next book I would buy is unknown lol. I currently have such a MASSIVE tbr pile waiting for me that I simply wouldn't know what to buy because I probably already own most of everything I want to read at this current moment haha--I seriously have over 50 books lying around that are on my reading list. About 40 of those which are brand new, never been read. Sheesh! So my final choice in this blog hop bookstore would be an author I've never heard of before. I'd like to discover someone new to read. Most likely in the urban fantasy genre.

What about you? I'd like to hear what all of you would buy. Don't forget to participate in the hop. Til Monday! ;-)
