Market News for the Week

Happy Monday, everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend. I thought I'd start off the week with some market news. Here's what's going on in the publishing world as of late:

Although with the rise of ebooks there has been much talk about the end of independent bookstores, NPR posted an article about the possibilities for independent bookstores in the ebook market. According to the article, Google is going to all independent bookstores to sell ebooks through their website. For more information about Google's support of independent bookstores, please click HERE.

Also in Google ebook news, big ebook contenders like Amazon and Barnes &Noble are scrambling to deal with the the Google ebook threat. With Google's announcement of their venture into ebooks, Amazon announced new plans for the Kindle. For more information, about the ereader/ebook race click HERE

On Wednesday I'm going to try and post a review of book number two of the Hunger Games Series, Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. It will depend on whether I get enough time to finish the book with the holidays quickly approaching. I promise to try my hardest! And don't forget about the 250 Follower Challenge! You can find the page at the top of the blog under "250 Follower Challenge." Great stuff is being given away and it's super easy to enter! Until Wednesday ;-)

  1. Interesting idea -- combining old school independent bookselling with new technology in the form of ebooks...

    Enjoy your holidays!

  2. BookGirl--I thought so too. I'd hate to see the independent bookstores go out of business, so I was happy to see this article. Happy Holidays to you too!
