Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, everyone! Can you believe it's 2011 already?! Wow! I hate to sound like a broken record, as I'm sure many bloggers have been posting about this, but I'd like to talk about New Year's resolutions.

Now whenever I make New Year's resolutions, I don't make resolutions like loosing weight or exercising more, or eating right. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with those kinds of resolutions, but personally those are things I do on a regular basis. I dance, I do yoga, I'm a martial artist, and for the most part, I eat right. So I have a specific type of resolution that I make each and every year. A writing resolution!

My writing resolutions pertain to anything that could possibly effect my writing career. Within 2011 I would like to:

--Write at least two hours, uninterrupted, per day. That means no FB, no Twitter, no checking email, etc.
--Finish at least two manuscripts, preferably more though that's a pretty high standard lol
--Get an agent
--Get one novel or short story under contract
--Read 50 books, which averages to about one per week.
--Reach 400 blog followers! (Woot! I can do that with your help).

Did you know people who make resolutions are 10 times more likely to achieve their goals? Sounds like a pretty good set of goals to me! What do you think? What are your goals for the New Year? Please let me know in the comments. Don't forget to put in your entry for the 250 follower giveaway! You can help me achieve the 400 followers I'm looking for. Click on the 250 Follower Giveaway tab at the top of the blog for directions on how to enter. Til Wednesday ;-)

  1. Hi! I found my way to the blog via the blog hop. Regarding resolutions...I didn't make any this year. I've been procrastinating, and using a bout with the flu as my excuse for this.

What I'd like to do is set a goal for a minimum number of words (of fiction) to write each day, to add to the quota I've set for myself for my blog. Now my dilemma is: how many words do I set for my goal?
