Review: Fantasy Lover by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Happy Thursday, everyone! Hope you're all making it through the week alright. Today we have a review of Sherrilyn Kenyon's paranormal romance novel, Fantasy Lover. Let's get right into it.

Synopsis: "Dear Reader,

Being trapped in a bedroom with a woman is a grand thing. Being trapped in hundreds of bedrooms over two thousand years isn't. And being cursed into a book as a love-slave for eternity can ruin even a Spartan warrior's day.

As a love-slave, I know everything about women. How to touch them, how to savor them, and most of all, how to pleasure them. But when I was summoned to fulfill Grace Alexander's sexual fantasies, I found the first woman in history who saw me as a man with a tormented past. She alone bothered to take me out of the bedroom and onto the world. She taught me to love again.

But I was not born to love. I was cursed to walk eternity alone. As a general, I had long ago accepted my sentence. Yet now I have found Grace--the one thing my wounded heart cannot survive without. Sure, love can heal all wounds, but can it break a two-thousand-year-old curse?

Julian of Macedon"

Genre: Paranormal Romance

First Sentences: " 'Honey, need to get laid.' Grace Alexander flinched at Selena's overtly loud voice in the small New Orleans cafe where they sat, finishing up their lunch of red beans and rice." A super grabbing opening and a great way to introduce the voice of the novel. Despite some of the darker content about Julian's past, the voice remained light and somewhat humorous at times. Very enjoyable.

Brownie Points: I loved Sherrilyn Kenyon's writing voice! Though I know most of you paranormal readers have probably been fans of hers for years, somehow I had never managed to get around to reading her--even though I've met her and by odd coincidence, she now knows me on a first name basis! Long story there. Anyway, I am very very glad I finally got around to picking up one of her books. I instantly fell in love with the writing voice. The writing on the line level was strong, the character's were likable, the hero was a hunk--it was one of those rare occasions where I could barely put the book down! That's the mark of a great writer.

Beefs: Absolutely no beefs. All in all it was a great read.

Ending: It's romance, it's a happily-ever-after, so of course it was wonderful =)

Recommendation and General Comments: This was a great read. An all around feel good book. It's one of those novels that you pick up thinking you're only going to read one chapter before you go to bed and instead you find yourself 7 chapters in and it's 5AM when you finally just can't stay awake anymore! Sherrilyn Kenyon is one of my new favorites. For this reason, I give Sherrilyn Kenyon's Fantasy Lover a rating of full moon.

Full moon is the mother of all ratings! If you haven't read this and you're a fan of paranormal romance, you MUST go to the store or library and get it NOW. I promise you won't regret it!

Would I aspire to write like this author?
Absolutely! The only thing that threw me off was that there was no indications of when we were switching to a different characters POV. I didn't distract me from the story, but I prefer to be warned by asterisks or something. Aside from that, I love EVERYTHING about this book and about the writing.

Don't forget to stop back by tomorrow for our regular post! Til then ;-)
